"The light was very poor so I had to use a long shutter speed. I would have written this off, but somehow I like it."

Meiji Jingu is the Shinto shrine dedicated to the divine souls of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Emperor Shoken. Emperor Meiji passed away in 1912 and Empress Shoken in 1914. After their demise, people wished to commemorate their virtues and to venerate them forever, and so this shrine was constructed, and their souls were enshrined on November 1, 1920.

It's the Bolivian border crossing in the mountains between Chile and Bolivia. "We drove from the desert in Chile for two hours or so to reach this little hut in the snow. The guy to look at the passports was asleep when we got there."

Laurentic and Tri-colour Inishowen

The SS Laurentic, pictured on the flag, was chosen to carry forty-three tons of gold bullion from Great Britain to Canada. On 25th January 1917. The ship struck a mine and sank within an hour in 40 metres of water. An incredible salvage feat between 1917 and 1924 recovered 3186 gold bars of the missing 3211 with a further 5 being recovered in 1932 by another salvage operation, leaving 20 gold bars still unaccounted for at the bottom of Lough Swilly worth some €15 million at current prices.....
